Lindsay Hallowell

Fiction Editor | Technical Editor

BIO

Greetings from Texas! I developed a love for writing at the ripe age of 9 and discovered my love for editing in college. Realizing that I could help authors better present their ideas to the world was a life-changer. After I graduated with my BA in English, I started seeking out opportunities to edit. From a quarterly newsletter for a non-profit agency to the Office of Official Publications at Texas Tech University to my own editing LLC, I have spent the last 8 years living my dream of being an editor.

A California native, I call Texas home and live in Lubbock with my hubby and business partner, Robert, and our Catahoula Leopard Dog, Shadow.

EXPERIENCE

I have been proofreading and copy-editing for 8 years and developmentally editing for 4 years. I launched my independent fiction editing business, Hallowell Publishing Group, in November 2017 to continue pursuing my passion for editing.

I provide developmental editing, copy-editing, and proofreading services. While my favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, I am open to nearly all YA, NA, and adult manuscripts. No minimum length required.

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY?

"Over a two-year period, Lindsay provided invaluable assistance with a 900-page novel I completed in draft and was seeking to publish. As lead editor for the project, Lindsay’s expertise was integral to its success and wrap-up. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Lindsay, and came to know her as a truly valuable asset to any team."

— Mike Holubik

"I consider myself a fairly good writer, but when it came time to turn a bunch of history articles into a book, I knew I needed professional help. Lindsay not only fixed typos and punctuation errors; she gave me good advice on the structure of my book and pointed out redundancies, poorly-constructed sentences and references which would confuse readers who were not familiar with my subject (the town of Kingsland, Texas).

The book turned out better than I had dared to expect, and has become a “best-seller” around the little town. Its success, for which Lindsay deserves much of the credit, has encouraged me to begin planning several more books; I look forward to working with her in the future!"
